More and more of news consumption is moving to the internet, and in recent year to the mobile. But finding the most relevant content in the limited time the users have, is no easy task. Some people rely solely on popular news website feeds and news sites like Reddit for their news consumption. But the these stories may not be the most relevant for the user. More relevant news stories can be consumed via social networks like FB and Twitter. Twitter is especially good for news consumption and latest news items travel fast across Twitter. Moreover, people take pains to follow the right kind of people, so the stories they get in their Twitter feed is usually very relevant. But, most of the users twitter feed is huge and hence a lot of users miss a lot of interesting stories. Delta News solves this problem by giving the user a list of stories that are 'hottest' in his news feed in a simple Reddit-like format. Hottness of a story is decided based on the age(first sharing of the story by one of user's friends) and the number of user's friends who tweeted it.
The vision is to be the first product a users goes to for news consumption for users. Soon voting on stories and commenting will be added. While Flipboard and other apps are beautiful and heavy, utility always trumps beauty. Delta News will provide the most relevant content to the user in a simple way ( light ).
I am just a single founder now.
Strategy is to get some user response from twitter users, make changes and then maybe allow facebook login too. Soon voting and commenting on stories will be added.
